Best seafood I have ever had came hear to scuba dive and the folks at sailfish scuba recommended it and a dish. We went at 4:00 pm but what we wanted wasn't ready to be prepared yet (this is a good sign) it means that they catch there Mahi Mahi fresh. We came back at 5:30 pm and they had it. Great crab stuffed Mahi Mahi with lemon butter sauce and fresh key lime pie at the end. This is very high quality drop buy if your in Key Largo. Also very friendly employees.

Good spot to stop at on your way in or out of the Keys. Mahi Mahi sandwich, barbecued pork and Philly cheesesteak were all very good and reasonably priced. Casual setting with picnic tables along the water. Kids meal is available and offers a variety of choices.

What a great place, I lived in Key Largo for years and my only regret is having only found them in the past 2 years. Having moved this month, they are definitely one of the few restaurants we will miss. My wife and I used to come whenever we could, especially for happy hour (they're the cheapest place to get Yuengling in town). They have something for everyone, even picky eaters and those that don't like seafood. I'd recommend them to anybody, but if you go on a Friday leave a few minutes early because they get CROWDED quick.

WHO THE HECK GAVE THIS PLACE FIVE STARS? This place is a hole in the wall and not in a cool way. Location was crappy, setup the same, and the food was just plain awful. For about two minutes after having a sip of the rum drink I thought I was going to be pleasantly surprised here... Then my "gazpacho" came. No joke: it was cocktail sauce and tomato paste mixed together. All of my friends' dishes were lame as well. The service was friendly, so I feel a bit bad bashing their place of work but I chose it based on the Yelp rating and don't want anybody else making the same mistake. Go somewhere else!

It's a little back road but worth it we had the coconut onions ring so yummy than I order the ahi tuna and a side of clam chowder soup the tuna was fresh and the soup creamy!! The outside sitting is perfect and the service is friendly

I give this place 3 stars not based on the quality of the meal which we both thought was very good. Kathy got the chicken sandwich and I had the crab cakes, They were both extremely tasty Sometimes you get to a place just as the staff is losing control. This is what we found when we got to shipwrecks. The kitchen had started to back up and the wait staff was having trouble figuring out how to manage what seemed to us like s handle able crowd. That said they kept a decent attitude and worked through the problem. Not before a bunch of folks left without ordering but they were back in good shape by the time we left. Our small dinner took about two hours. Hopefully that is not the standard. I'd give shipwrecks another try. Food was not disappointing and was very reasonably priced

Well Saturday night is not the night for this place. Way under staffed. Said we could not order food for a half hour. Went to the bar after sitting outside and could not get a drink. Stood inside at the bar for 10 mins. Still no one to wait on you. I seen food sitting in the window with out a heat lamp for 5 mins. Finally the so called waitress took the food for delivery. What a bad 1st impression. Hope the place gets better service or it will be the sunken shipwreck. What a wreck.

Stopped on our way back up to Miami. Had coconut onion rings and jalapeño poppers stuffed with crab meat for appetizers. I'm not a big coconut fan in general but the onion rings were good. The poppers were amazing!! I had the yellowtail fried with butter sauce for entree and it was great too. Can't beat the $3 premium beers. Not to mention $1 beers everyday from 4-6pm. Nice view of the canal area were the boats pass by and can park. Bill came out to much less than we expected. Overall great experience, honestly can't wait to go back.

Stopped on our way down to Hawks Cay. Just off the beaten path. Small, quiet and nice water views. Rolled in with 3 families, 18 total and they handled like champs. Mahi Reuben was spectacular. Will definitely stop again next time.

Decided to stop here after a recommendation we got from a dive shop we were at. My boyfriend and I we're starving after our diving trip, and this place great! For starters we had the ahi tuna. I would have to say it's one of the best ahi tuna dishes I have had, the fish was very fresh. For dinner I had the hog fish with coconut onion rings and my boyfriend had the seafood platter. Both dishes we're great and everything was a good price. Next time we visit Key Largo for diving we will be back!

So happy to have stopped here on our way to Key West. The fish dip was delicious, loved the crunch of raw onion. My friend and I split two sandwiches the Harvey and the Mahi Ruben. Just do them both. Harvey was amazing, eat hot!

We just got into Key Largo tonight and based on reviews decided on Shipwrecks for an early dinner. I was honestly worried when we pulled up but i put the worries away based on the great reviews and im so glad!! It was super relaxed, quaint with friendly staff, a local feel and the food was amazing! The peel and eat shrimp were super tasty, the Mahi Mahi flavored and cooked perfectly, and the Key lime pie was heavenly. Strangely enough they have a home made potato salad that was great too! I definitely want to return before we leave to try the crab cakes!

  • Mallory C.

Great value. Juicy seafood at reasonable prices. Meal highlights were conch fritters, coconut onion rings, coconut beer, blackened mahi, and key lime pie! Definitely coming back.

  • Gary V.

The service was a bit slow like other reviewers have said. It didn't really bother us at all though, it just seemed like a very kudos back place. I had the seafood platter fried and my fiance copied but got hers grilled. Grilled was really good mine didn't have much flavor aside from the batter. Really good potato salad and key lime pie. We'll most likely go back this week during vacation.

I just went today for a late lunch/early dinner with my parents. It's a tiny place and looks far from fancy. But boy can looks be deceiving! The employees were super friendly and quick to serve. The good was FANTASTIC!! Honestly, it's a must if you ever get the chance. I highly recommend :)

Great little find thanks to good Yelp reviews and the reviews did not disappoint! Fantastic waitress! Outdoor seating available with a water view! Food was fast, cheap and delicious! Would recommend and would come back! We had the mahi mahi sandwich and clam chowder! And of course the lime key pie!

Very good food. We were staying at the ocean Reef resort and didn't feel like spending $30 on fried shrimp so we drove here. This is basically someone's house turned in to a restaurant /bar with a very local feel, so don't come in dressed up. Would definitely recommend!

The perfect pirate cove, the food is good, the place decoration is unique, it took me back to my roots, this place felt like home (i grew up in a fisherman village in PR). I'm looking forward to come often and become a regular. HH -7 days a week from 4 to 6, $1 drafts, $1.50 bottles. Wed- live music + home cooking 1730 to 2030. Fri- all u can eat Mahi-Mahi $12.99 (doesn't get any better than this). Sat- prime rib dinner $16.99 Sun- tons of stuff on sale... Worth the trip.

  • Pamela A.

I have had crab cakes all down the coast, these they make are homemade and the best I have ever had. For 9.99 you get 2 large crab cakes and a side. Great value! Mahi and shrimp were excellent. Our waitress Shawn was a delight. Great small place with outdoor seating. Loved it!

  • Robyn H.

Food is really great and the price is amazing for the quality of the taste. Atmosphere is very local and very casual. Service is friendly.

Nice little shipwrecked looking joint! Service was great. Loved the crabcakes. If this place ever goes under (not that they will..given the good food). They can survive off of the dollar bills stuck on the walls for a looong time!

  • Kelly D.

Who said this place was good? Sat down and was informed that they only have one cook and we could not order food for at least 30 minutes. So went to the bar to get a drink. Stood there for 10 minutes no service...not even "I'll be with you in a minute", overheard a guy say that they lost his credit card. We left..went to Gilberts. ..got waited on immediately by not one but two waiters. Shipwrecks is a sunken mess.

  • Fern B.

Excellent place for seafood. Friday nights all you can eat Mahi Mahi with 2 sides for just $10.99. I've come to place several times, food is fresh, service is laid back, they have outdoor sitting and indoor with A/C.

  • Tricia M.

fun atmosphere. great food. nice prices. blackened Mahi Mahi was delish! not to mention the coconut onion rings.

This place had such good reviews, we were really excited to try it. We'd give it an okay. Scallops were very small and some tasted off. We started our meal on the deck to enjoy the breeze, but ended being chased inside due to the mosquitoes. It took a long time to be served but I think this is part of the pace of the area. Don't expect to hurry.

  • Leslee B.

Great crab cakes, coconut shrimp and coconut onion rings. And the Bud Light was frosty cold!

Hidden gem. Referred by locals. Very friendly people and good food for a fair price!

  • Andy V.

Total dive. Mostly locals. Sat night is prime rib night and food is very good. Be aware of bugs. We were on the screened porch and still got devoured by the Mosquitos. Service staff is very friendly and even offered a sample of some of the apps when I asked. Key lime pie is my favorite. It's got the bit of sourness that most other places remove with too much sweetness Four stars based on other dives, not related to high end quality, so take it for what it's worth.

    (4)
  • Avery C.

You can't find more local style for the keys then this joint! It really should be classified as a dive bar. The food and drinks here are good and the prices are reasonable. Just be prepared going in that its a locals joint. Your going to encounter boat captains, dive professionals and similar. If your in the keys and want a taste of local flavor stop by this place and have a few beers.

  • Mike D.

For dinner had the coconut onion rings and crab cakes. Both were out of this world. The sweet Chile sauce was great with the onion rings. Crab cakes were large and moist. Service at the bar was great. Enjoyed the meal so much returned the next day for lunch, for the Harvey sandwich. Dessert was in house made key lime pie. I am trying to find an excuse to go back to the keys so I can eat here again.

Went for lunch coming back from key west. Great food. The coconut onion rings are amazing (I normally hate coconut flakes but had no issues with these). The Mahi Mahi basket was nice and fresh too. All around good food.

  • D C.

Shipwrecks is a KL locals spot. Their food is good but the prices are better. They have a fantastic happy hour and lots of beers to choose from. The service here can be slow as they tend to be overwhelmed or short staff. They have the best deal on Mahi all you can eat for a really low price on Friday.

Monday night and we decided on this restaurant based on reviews. 1 1/2 hours later, we still had not received our food. The waitresses spent time with other tables chatting, but maybe they were locals while we where not. Finally asked manager for our beer bill and declined our food. She came back and said she would not charge us for our drinks and if we could wait another five minutes, she'd give us our food to go gratis. While I thought this was very nice of her, we were hungry and disappointed and decided to just leave. I should mention that the guy at the table next to us went to get his own menus and silverware so I think they got the shaft too.

Had dinner here last night after reading the great reviews mentioning a local place off the beaten path. So worth a few wrong turns at night in an unfamiliar place! I ordered the seafood feast with jumbo shrimp, scallops, mahi mahi and the largest serving of homemade cole slaw I have ever seen. My hubby ordered the panko mahi mahi with Thai chili sauce and homemade onion rings. The servings are huge and everything was served hot and delicious! But we forced ourselves to eat every last bite. The beer was served in a frosty mug and was ice cold. And we left with a slice of key lime pie. All the staff that took care of us couldn't have done a better job. They made us feel very welcome. And I almost forgot, there was a musician playing a guitar who was amazing!

Casual atmosphere, very good prices and good food. Came here on recommendation from dive shop and was not disappointed. Better than Pilot House the night before and less than half the price!

We stopped for dinner quite late as we headed out of the Keys. This place is quite hard to find but well worth it. We sat outside in a screened area which was cooler although the bugs did get through. The waitresses were efficient, friendly and helpful. We ate the seafood and especially enjoyed the coconut shrimp appetizer. My wife had the seared tuna as an entree and I had grilled mahimahi. Both were excellent as was the beer and wine selection. The pricing was reasonable ($74 for two incl wine)

A tremendous place for local Keys seafood cooked with love and lots of flavor! Have the Mahi all three ways, you'll be glad you did.

We came down to pick up some fireworks down the street at Phantom Fireworks. We were headed on our way home and drove right past this place when my friend mentioned seeing the little sign off to the side of the road. We made a quick u-turn and pulled into this place which is right on the water. Our server, Viv, was super nice, friendly and made us feel right at home. The food came out quick and was delicious, fresh, locally caught Mahi and yellow tail snapper. Everything was fantastic. The homemade key lime pie was the best I've ever had. This place is awesome! The food and service are flawless. We'll be making the drive down here more often as it's well worth the experience to come get this authentic taste of the keys, which is second to none.

Went on a Friday night so we expected to wait. It took us 20 mins to get seated. Our waitress was Serena. She was great!! The place was busy and many of the staff came by to check on us. I asked about why so many checked on us and was told that all tips are shared so they all take care of you. Please remember that you are on the Keys and we went on a Friday so it took a while for our food to come out, but it was expected on a Friday. Food was good!! Grouper sandwich was great and fresh and the coconut onion rings are a must. Because of the wait they took care of us. It pays to be understanding when the staff is slammed. Take some bug spray. Luckily the staff found some or we would have been eaten alive. There is an inside but you kind of miss the point of being in the keys.

This place is a gem. I've had the Mahi Reuben, the smoked fish dip, and a sampler that came with fried Mahi, shrimp, and scallops. Everything was excellent. Lacey was great, providing quick service and good suggestions for food and drink. Highly recommended.

After reading all the reviews, I had high expectations. First, it wasn't bad.. But it wasn't great. When we got there, there weren't many people. We were told sit where ever you want. Many of the tables were dirty and not picked yet. We decided to sit outside. Let me warn you, don't go starving. Our waitress took our drink order, bought out the drinks and never came back. So, another waitress took pity on us and took our order. She was actually very nice an tentative. (She was Caucasian with blonde hair.., didn't get her name) food was ok. I got the poppers (3 star), coconut rings (4 stars) and grilled seafood combo ( 3 stars) mahi mahi was bland. Husband raved about sweet potato fries and breaded shrimp ( claims 5 stars) Clam chowder was watery and cold ( 1 star). Prices are not bad for a seafood restaurant in the keys. Overall we agree with the ambience, customer service and food that it's a 3 star.

The worst. We purchased a gift certificate for this place during a charitable auction. When we tried to use the gift certificate, we were met with a sob-story from the manager about how an employee misused some of the gift certificates and so they didn't honor them anymore. It was for a charity event. They could care less...saying they'd never heard of it. Instead of trying to make us feel welcomed, serve us some food, try to win over a new customer, they were totally rude to us and said, "How do we know you didn't get a stolen gift certificate?" (Would I be writing this review if I had?) We went back to the people who coordinated the auction. They said they'd contact the restaurant and see what happened. That was several months ago. No one cares. We paid $125 for a prize package at this charitable event in Islamorada and NO ONE at this restaurant cares. That's not good customer service to accuse a customer of a fake gift certificate or making up an event. The manager said, "that sounds like something we'd participate in, but you have no proof of it." The proof was the card that was issued to us by the charity auction. All that aside, we were treated like criminals and talked down to. I don't care if this place has the best food on the planet, I will NEVER darken their doors again because of the way we were treated. You don't treat people like that. The manager didn't even offer to call the fundraiser for us. She just said, "No." It looked like a fun, divey place that we could have called a local place for us, but thanks to the rude service, I will be recommending that all of my friends avoid this place.

Great cozy atmosphere in an 'out of the way' restaurant with better than average pub food, a nice domestic draught Happy Hour and great service by a friendly waitress - Lacey. We ordered the Coconut Onion Rings (recommended by another Yelper) and enjoyed them. We liked the crab and cream cheese - stuffed Jalapeno Poppers even better (nice spicy bite, softened by the sweet dip). For dinner, we had the catch of the day (hog fish - blackened) along with a sampler that included shrimp and mahi mahi - all of the fish was excellent. To top it off, we ordered a slice of key lime pie as well as a slice of peanut butter pie - Wow, were they great - and with a great presentation! Overall, a great stop on our way to Key West for family vacation!

Nice spot! After a few days of pretentious overpriced dinners in Miami, we were ready to have a more low key (pun intended) experience in Key Largo. Restaurant is super divey but has a chill vibe by the water and we enjoyed the loud drunk middle aged locals (no seriously it was so refreshing after dining next to sour faced models and wannabe cool dudes in Miami "hot spots"). I had the prime rib special (only $16.95!) and it was perfect though the veggies were cold and overboiled - which wasn't a big loss since I care more about the meat anyway. My guy got the mixed seafood basket which was also great but we were a little disappointed that they wouldn't let us have the mahi mahi blackened and the shrimp fried (the waitress claimed that the kitchen was too backed up even though the place was nearly empty and is it really that much trouble to throw a few shrimp in the fryer?). Chocolate cake dessert was yummy and we did not care that it was clearly store bought and pulled out of the fridge. My only regret was not getting the coconut shrimp starter but maybe next time.

Stopped in here for a craft beer and light lunch. Ordered the deep fried mahi mahi and seared ahi tuna with seaweed salad. OMG! so delicious. Food far exceeded my expectations. This is a must stop place to see when in the keys.

The food here was wonderful and a great value. The coconut onion rings are a sweet and savory delight. The shipwreck burger, Chickenwreck, Lulu's fish sandwich, conk fritters, french fries, sweet potato french fries, stuffed Mahi Mahi, are all worth traveling 3,000 miles for. Key Lime pie was to die for and they have a good happy hour.

  • Phyllis M.

Let's get rid of the negatives first: not a full bar...wines and beer only; no credit cards accepted! OK now for the positives: fast service on a Sunday night around 8 PM which is not usual for any restaurant; definitely a locals place- afterall this is the keys - when in Rome- no need to dress-up! Absolutely outstanding coconut onion rings, great calamari, good key lime pie. Blakened mahi was delicious, as was the potato or macaroni salads accompanying it. Worth a visit when in Key Largo!

    (4)
  • Jep L.

This place is great! Great happy hour specials on food and drinks. Good service. Good fresh calamari, hand breaded coconut onion rings, awesome food. Laid back funky atmosphere, meet the locals!

Went by boat, squeezed in the small dock space and sneaked in the back door. Everything was good, lots of people just off the dive boats. The Mahi Mahi with Thai hot sauce was very good. Thai sticks. Great beer selection.

  • Jeff M.

Started with the Conch Fritters and they were decent and well priced. Had the special yellowtail with coconut and mango sauce. The fish was a tad sweet and a bit over cooked. The wife had the special shrimp with pasta. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the sauce was light and tasty. Service was great and very friendly and the prices were some of the best we have seen in Key Largo.

We tried this restaurant because of the great reviews and were very disappointed. We first ordered beers that were brought to the table promptly unlike the soup we ordered that came out just warm. We didn't complain about it and when asked how the soup was we told the waitress (one of three) that were serving us that it wasn't as hot as we liked but we did eat it. She said she was sorry and asked if we wanted another beer. We got another beer while we waited for our meal which took so long that we ended up ordering another beer when the food came. I ordered Maui Maui basket with onion rings and my husband ordered the seafood basket. The flavor was good however my fish was not very hot and the onion rings were cool and very greasy. The seafood appeared to be reheated because it was hot on the outside and just warm on the inside and very greasy. There was also an issue with the amount of Mosquitos that were biting and one of the waitresses told us that they are not usually this bad however a local said it is a frequent problem. We will not be going back!

Our original dinner destination in the Keys closed at 7 so we needed to find something quick as everyone was starving, so going off of reviews from Yelp and TravelAdvisor we decided to go here since it was nearby and had good reviews. You can definitely tell it's a local joint, lots of people in the bar area, we were first seated outside right next to the water where many people just pull their boat up, get a few drinks and go on their way.....the bad thing about sitting by the water.....THE BUGS!!!! They were attacking us like crazy so thankfully since we were waiting for a while some seats up on the deck opened up. Service was a little slow, it seemed like they were probably more busy tending to the busy bar inside. One waitress was not pleasant at all, she actually really pissed me off and thankfully the next girl that came to help us was much more pleasant which helped me calm down. When the food came it was delicious, can't argue with that. The beer specials were great as well. Good food, good drinks, good local atmosphere, but could improve on the service.

Worst service ever (at least 50% of the time) and the food is your standard bar food. Good place to go when you just got of a dive boat and are starving.

This is an awesome dive bar! $4 for a pitcher of Yuengling and the mahi and grouper sandwiches I had there were mouth watering!

  • Elizabeth M.

What a great place! So glad that the dive shop recommended. A great locals place where you can see all types, be yourself, not spend a lot for some great food and drink. Friendly staff with a fun divey atmosphere....dollars from vistors haning everywere. The seafood was fresh and delishious, on our trip we actually went here two time and we were only there for the weekend. The coconut onion rings are a must with a great sauce, the mahi mahi was great (had bites of my husbands dish the stuffed mahi mahi which was delicous with the sauce and the crab cake underneath). The seared tuna was great, and the mahi mahi sandwich was also tasty and their sweet potato fries were cooked perfect. I also had a taste of blackened scallops where were cooked perfect. For drinks the beers were cheap and the coconut rum punch was a winner. Also a great HH for Appetizers on Mon-Thurs and peel and eat shrimp every day (which were great). Definitely come to this off the main street location (or maybe the locals are screaming at me right now), but if I am back in the area I will definitely be back!

I dig the place, here's why: * Non-corporate * Small and cozy * Hottie Bartenders! * OUTSTANDING Prime Rib Special! * OUTSTANDING All-You-Can-Eat Mahi Special! * Cheap Draft Beers served COLD! * Indoor and outdoor seating! * I contributed to the decor * Chock full of Keys characters * Very Inexpensive! Many thanks to the English Gardener for the intro. Specials are on certain nights. See you there! Cabeza OUT!

This is my second visit to Shipwreck and I am as pleased as On the first one. Last time I had the coconut shrimp and the mahi strips, so fresh...very good. Then today I actually came with the family for their "all you can eat fish" ($15.99) and wow. I had wanted to do it for a while and today I finally had the chance. You can get your fish fried, grilled or blackened, which was my favorite. My dad,who has a big appetite only got one order, they are normally big. Then my bf and I had two orders each, we are hungry people. I paired my fish with a tasty potato salad but I also tried the coleslaw and the steak fries. The best was the potato salad, the fries were a little on the bland side. But trust me, with all that fresh yummy fish you wont really mind. The Service is ok because is not consistent; it depends on who is taking care of you. Of the four waiters that went to my table two of them were very welcoming and all the time smiling, one was just serious and the other one was a little bossy and not as kind; but well, I can live with that. Overall, so happy with this visit. My belly is telling me to go to bed and sleep like a baby. Oh and very reasonable prices as well. 4 cokes, 3 orders of "all you can eat fish", and an order of fried shrimp for $73 (tip not included). Works for me!

mmmm mmmm doggies! Now this is what the keys is supposed to be!!! Service was FAST and the beer was COLD. They also now feature a FULL liquor bar, I think before they only served beer and wine. There's plenty of parking and even covered motorcycle parking (think little motorcycle stalls) a first for me, should've gotten a pix of that for you guys #sorry. It's located right on the water, with inside and outside seating #perfect. As for the outside, you have 2 options covered or not covered, but both are right on the water! The menu tantalizes your taste buds with their famous (as I learned) coconut crusted onion rings. This must've been a kitchen mistake on the batter b/c it's extremely reminiscent of coconut covered shrimp, but extremely GOOD. It's served with a Thai Chili Sauce that puts it over the top, definitely order these as an appetizer or with your meal (see pix). The little one was the only one that knew what she wanted, a burger with lots of ketchup. We placed her order first as she was "hungry" and went back to pursing the menu. Her burger came out and I swear it was an adult burger, it was massive, and she loved it...ate the whole thing right up! Us adults decided on 3 Mahi Mahi sandwiches with 3 different sides so we could all taste something different. The Mahi Reuben was the clear winner for us it was delicious. My only suggestion is maybe ask for the dressings or mayo on the side as when it came out it was covered in dressing, we actually used napkins to remove some of the sauce as it was just too much. The sides are bountiful and definitely can be shared. (see pix) Can't wait for a return visit!

What an interesting place. Has a keys feel, with an infusion of biker. Not that it's blatantly a biker bar, not even close. But there is a thread of rebel or biker coursing through the joint. It's a bit off the beaten path, which is actually part of its charm. There isn't a ton of parking, which is okay, because there isn't a ton of seating. The outdoor area is nice, facing a residential canal. Oddly, the bathrooms are outside the front door. The liquor license is only for beer and wine but they offer mixed drinks on the menu (wine based). It was raining so we had little choice but to sit inside as the outdoor area under the tiki hut was full. The beers on tap offer a nice cross-section and there is a good selection in the bottle. We started with a few beers some power aid for the kids and a few appetizers, the coconut battered onion rings, the jalapeno poppers and. Peel and eat shrimp. The hype Israel, the jalapeno poppers and then coconut onion rings are absolutely amazing. For lunch we ordered the seafood platter and fried fried my sandwich the crabcakes and some chicken tenders. The crabcakes were the best part of the entrées everything else was okay. Overall a decent meal albeit a bit pricey for bar fare. We will definitely go back for the jalapeno poppers, the crabcakes in the coconut onion rings.

After spending the afternoon scuba-diving in Key Largo we were all starving!! The group discussed several tourist traps we had been previously to when the owner of the dive shop recommended Shipwreck's. A quick check on Yelp and I was sold. Although we were warned to sit inside the screened in patio we sat outside along the water. Plus there was already a large table there for our group of 11 so it was perfect. Once the sun set and we were waiting for the check the bugs came out and we ran inside to the bar for the check lol.... yes we should have taken the advice and sat inside! We were also warned ahead of time that food can take awhile to come out... but I didn't find this to be the case and was pleased at the service we received. Keep in mind that they don't have a full liquor bar, however they have 10+ beers on tap and quite a few wines by the glass. Steven started off with a ShockTop and I had a glass of Pinot Noir. Our server also brought out a pitcher of water so we could handle the refills ourselves. Since we were recommended to get the coconut onion rings we started out with those and were very pleased. We also got the Thai Mahi Mahi fingers and loved them. I only wish they had a different dipping sauce other than the standard thai chili sauce from the bottle, perhaps something made in-house that was unique to each fried option. For entrees Steven and I both ordered the hog-fish as it's our favorite fish and was a special of the day. I prefer if we don't get the same thing so we can share and try lots of different things, but we couldn't turn down hog-fish lol. He had steak fries and I had coleslaw. Coleslaw was nice and sweet just how I like it. The entrees also included a side salad and we both ordered a house salad with a mango vinaigrette! I loved the salad dressing and the salad itself was nice and crisp. You can bet we'll be back here because: 1) It's on the water! 2) It's cheap! 3) The menu is quite comprehensive and has a lot of good things!

After a morning of snorkeling we were looking for somewhere to get lunch on our way back to the Florida mainland and Shipwreck's came highly recommended. We arrived around noon on a Saturday. Parking is a little bit of a state of confusion, but it wasn't hard to find/make a spot. From the outside Shipwreck's kind of looks it's name, and at first we weren't even sure we had the right place, but when we walked in we were immediately greeted and told we could pick a seat. There was bar seating as well as tables inside the restaurant, but we proceeded outside to the screened in porch area and took a seat there. There were also tables on the dock, but the screened in areas was shielded from the sun and had fans circulating cool air so we chose that. We started out with drinks, I had a coconut beer they had on draft and thought it was unique and yummy. We also went with the coconut onion ring appetizer. These were served with a sweet chili dipping sauce and they were great. The outside coconut breading was cooked perfectly. For an entree I went with the seafood combo which included shrimp, scallops, and mahi. You could chose fried grilled or blackened, and I went with grilled. The shrimp were large and had great flavor. These scallops were of the smaller variety, so not my favorite type of scallop, but still good, and the mahi was well seasoned. With the entree came a choice of side and I went with pasta salad. I liked it a lot and it tasted house made. I also had a bite of the crab cakes and enjoyed those. Overall everyone was happy with their food, the atmosphere was fun and beachy, and the waitress was attentive and kept our drinks replenished. Even though we were full we were talked into the key lime pie as well. It had a nice texture and bite of tartness, though I really don't consider myself a key lime pie expert...but we were in the keys. Prices were extremely reasonable and four of us after appetizers, entrees, desserts, and numerous drinks, only spent about $100, really not bad when you consider how touristy this area can be.

This spot is very divey but does the job. The food is cheap is tasty. The only thing I wanted was the conch fritters. I've been craving them since I left Key West several years ago! I ordered them and they were different than what I remembered. Maybe it was just this place. I don't know but I still enjoyed this restaurant. I ordered the seafood combo, all grilled. My favorite was the scallops. I loved the mayo based sauce. Awesome. I would come back here and probably order the fritters again.

Stopped here on way back from Key West. Very "casual" dining experience but food very good. We had crab cake sandwhich and conch fritters. Both very good. Service was a little slow but it was happy hour and place was kind of full. Also middle of week and might have been unexpectedly understaffed. All ended well. As side note, wife left cell phone in bathroom and staff recovered it an

Was introduced to Shipwrecks by friends of mine who lives in Key Largo and it has become one of our favorite places. Relaxed and unpretentious, it's a place where locals go. I don't have a favorite dish because everything I've had has been excellent! The seafood is fresh and never overcooked. I haven't had any issues with bad service.... we usually sit outside...people have to remember that tables are being served inside as well as on the screened in area and on the covered deck.. It may not be busy outside and packed inside. Part of the charm of Shipwrecks is the same charm as the Keys... a laid back atmosphere...Kick off your flip flops and kick back!

Just had the Harvey and Reuben fish sandwich. They were excellent. Pretty decent food off the beaten path. The prices were also good. The coconut onion rings were tasty, and the waitress was sweet and helpful.

Tried this place due to the reviews on Yelp and wow, utter disappointment. Started out walking in the door, no one greeted us. Walked thru to the dock tables and sat down, still no one. A guy sitting next to us kept dropping F-bombs in conversation with his family and small child standing there. Got up and went inside, finally someone said hi. Ordered the coconut onion rings, very good along with the poppers. Fried shrimp, horrible! Tempura fried shrimp is so greasy why would you use tempura?! Crab cake sandwich was nothing but breaking and imitation meat, bland and pretty disgusting. Grilled mahi overlooked and dry. Complete waste of time and money. Never was asked for a refill, waitress didn't say thanks for coming in. Will never go back.

Coconut onion rings are gooood. The environment was nice and relaxed on the patio. It was a gorgeous day so wonderful to be outside.

Went here with friends on a Friday night. The wife ordered the shrimp basket with sweet potato fries. She was impressed with the freshness and taste. I had the Mahi Fish special, all you can eat with black beans topped with onions. I had the Mahi fixed grilled and blackened and both were excellent. Although the beans were canned (maybe Bush's?) the fish was moist and flaky and cooked perfectly. The place itself is very rustic and shares a parking lot with the marina. We would definitely go back. Next time to try the burgers which looked amazing.

Don't ask questions... Just make this your lunch or dinner stop as you enter the keys! Laid back, cold beer, boating casual with great fresh mahi and if you aren't allergic to onions or coconut, get the coconut onion rings!

The food here was a good price for what you got. We liked the different choices for seating, open air, screened porch or inside. The service was slow. It took a long time to get drinks and appetizers.

We've visited Shipwreck's twice in our visits to Key Largo. We stumbled upon Shipwreck's last year on a Fish Fry Friday - all you can eat. Wow. It was delicious, but you better plan to get there early! This year we visited during lunch after a snorkel tour and were just as pleased.

Great place with cheap prices and cheap cold beer!!! We love this place after diving with Silent World! Our dive shop always recommends this place and it's great for fresh fish and just an overall great meal for an awesome price! We have had burgers and the Mahi Mahi and it's delicious! I've had the Mahi Mahi fish fingers in Panko and they were great! Key lime pie is very good here too!! There is seating inside or outside. Service is good and friendly! Each day they have specials like all you can eat mahi and stuff! Great happy hour too!! Eat where the locals eat!!

Found this place by chance and the entire group (6 of us) really enjoyed the place. Excellent food, good portions, and very nice staff. The exterior could turn you away but we are very glad we went inside. Great seating outside on the patio by the canal. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. This is the taste.

Great, simple place to have a casual outdoor meal. We went for dinner last night. I ordered the crab cakes with the coconut onion rings. Both were very good. My wife got the Coconut shrimp. She's not a really big seafood fan but she's being a sport and she liked them. Service was good. Prices were good. I recommend.

Food is blah at best. Salad had brown lettuce and a soft tomato. Service was average, not bad, not especially friendly or good. If you can find somewhere else I'd do it.

Went fishing with Round Up Charters and after Capt. Brian cleaned our catch we walked the 30 feet to Shipwrecks and handed it over. They cooked our Mahi 4 different ways, each of which was amazing. Seared the tuna for an appetizer and provided all the sides we wanted and all for a VERY reasonable price. Even our "non-fish eating" Daughter thought it was delicious. Although she did order a burger and fries "just in case"! Coldest draft beer we've had in the Keys, outstanding personal service from friendly staff in a cool, funky environment, what's not to love!
